May 13 Chapter Meeting:
John Page Williams from the Chesapeake Bay Foundation will be our guest speaker with a presentation on the recent 2008 State of the Bay report, with lots of opportunity for questions and answers about the health of the Bay.

In addition to his responsibilities as a fund raiser, field educator and program administrator, John has hands-on experience running field trips by canoe, outboard skiff, and workboat on every river system in the Chesapeake.

John is also a free-lance writer on the subjects of boats, marine electronics, fishing and environmental issues for Boating, Chesapeake Bay, and Northeast Boating Magazines. This will be a great opportunity to learn first hand about the health of the Bay from an expert. Don't miss it!

June 10 Chapter meeting - Sonney Forrest will talk about light tackle fishing in the middle Bay. Check the March Newsletter for info; we will have a reminder in the May Newsletter. Sonney's web site is http://www.captainsonney.com/

Events of Interest:

Sea Grass Restoration - The Nature Conservancy of Virginia is gearing up for a huge seagrass restoration project on Virginia's Eastern Shore. The project involves collecting 10 million eelgrass seeds, so the timing of the event will depend on when the seeds are ready for harvest underwater.
